Established in 1957, Watford Fencing Club is the oldest fencing club in Hertfordshire and has 40+ members fencing all three weapons (foil, épée, and sabre).

Easily accessible
A short walk from Rickmansworth Tube Station and with a car park on site, we train every Wednesday from 19:45 to 21:45 at the the Royal Masonic School for Girls.
Our courses and coaching
Tasters
Taster sessions are a great way to try the sport of fencing for 2 hours with one of our qualified coaches, without the commitment of a full Beginners’ Course. A taster session includes:
– Loan of necessary kit
– 2 hour introduction to fencing
– Open to anyone aged 15+
Beginners course
The Beginners Course is the best way to quickly learn the sport of fencing with 10 weeks of tuition from qualified coaches. A beginners course includes:
– Loan of necessary kit
– 10 weeks of group coaching
– British Fencing L2 certificate*
– 1 year BF Membership*
– Open to anyone aged 15+
*on completion of the course
Coaching
Coaching is provided by a team of qualified, experienced and, above all, friendly coaches. Daren Tee is head coach, coaching foil and sabre every week. Lajos Fazekas coaches all three weapons the second Wednesday of the month.
Andy Ross and Chris Gregory run the taster and beginners courses. Chris has over 35 years fencing experience, winning a number of medals at county level. Andy has been coached by Iron Maiden frontman, Bruce Dickinson and appeared alongside Pierce Brosnan and Madonna in James Bond’s Die Another Day.
